Diagnostic Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology has been available for many years, but is relatively new in its application to the foot. Each office is equipped to perform this quick and painless test. High frequency sound waves are emitted from a probe which is placed on the area of interest. The waves bounce off structures of the foot sending information back to the probe which is converted into an image. Structures that can be evaluated with ultrasound include: ligaments, tendons, nerves, joints, and bone. At Twin Rivers Podiatry ultrasound technology is used to better diagnose and treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, capsulitis, soft tissue masses, and neuromas.
